We may think that keeping the surroundings clean would be enough for wellbeing, but it is the same place where we all go wrong. Cleanliness is the key to good health only when maintained both on the outside and the inside. The inner body requires equal attention as the outer body. Keeping a check on the functioning of internal organs such as kidneys, heart, liver, lungs, etc. is a necessity and a platform for kidney health. We will discuss the cleanliness of the renal system as per the kidney treatment in Ayurveda.

So, what, according to you, is cleanliness? Keeping the surroundings clean and hygienic, right? What about you’re internal cleaning? Don’t you feel the need for cleansing the inner body as well? All these have an answer in this blog with the “Idler’s guide to the good health of kidneys.”

Kidneys are the organs that filter the metabolic waste, maintain pH levels, fluid amount, and regulate the blood flow throughout the body; then why the needs for cleansing develop?

If you can recall the lessons given by our mothers and teachers that the following steps should be taken to maintain personal hygiene:

  • Wash your hands before and after meals properly so that the germs cannot enter the body through the mouth.
  • Brush your teeth twice a day to abstain from dental problems
  • Flossing has always been an important step to keep your tongue clean
  • Wash your genitals after using washrooms
  • Take regular baths

All these measures had only one motive to keep the body away from the diseases. Similarly, taking care of your kidneys will help in preventing fatal diseases. For kidney cleansing, we have made three installments to detoxify kidneys that you can get to read here. Today, we will provide you with information about other ways to keep your kidneys clean other than those installments as per the kidney treatment in Ayurveda.

An idealistic approach towards good health would go like this:

First: Maintain a personal hygiene

You may not have acknowledged it before, every morning you get up, brush your teeth, etc. have a logic behind the healthy wellbeing of the kidneys. It is a proven theory that anything that enters your mouth affects kidneys. Whatever you eat and drink the entire day goes to the kidneys for the filtration process. The germs developed overnight need to be eliminated from the mouth as soon as you wake up, or else it can become a reason for the bacterial infection. So, you are required to follow these four steps after brushing, flossing, gargling, and excreting:

  • Bathe regularly: Wash your body and hair regularly. If your hair is long and takes time to dry, you may choose to wash it on alternate days. A few researchers have said that bathing at night is way more useful than bathing in the morning. It is because of the physical activities throughout the day layers up dust and bacteria that we cannot see. In another theory, it was said that regular bathing is necessary to avoid the accumulation of dead skin on the healthy skin that may block the pores.
  • Trim your nails: It can vary the regularity of people trimming their nails because a few have rapid growth while the others have a slow-paced growth. In India, people eat food with bare hands (mostly) and so it is required to keep the length of nails short or clean at least so that the germs do not get stuck in the nails, and we should not consume along with the food.
  • Wash your hands: The most crucial thing to do. Keep your hands neat and clean before and after having lunch and using washrooms. It helps in abstaining from the viral and bacterial infections both.
  • Sleep well: It is said that if you sound sleep, you will bound deep. Bonding with your inner body is a necessity as it is the only source that allows us to lead the outer body so well. Try to relax and sleep at least 8 hours at night. You may take a nap in between the day. Your sound sleeping pattern can tell that you are not dealing with any disease. As per the kidney treatment in Ayurveda, disturbed sleep is one of the prominent symptoms of kidney diseases.

Second: Pick up the good habits

It may sound like a kindergarten thing, but it is important to maintain a good kidneys’ health. By now, we all must have known the importance of diet and lifestyle for the healthy functioning of kidneys. So, pick up the good habits and follow the guidelines of kidney treatment in Ayurveda:

  • Add only fresh fruits and vegetables to your diet and avoid all the processed & frozen foods.
  • Focus on kidney-friendly food, especially if you have had a family history of kidney diseases.
  • Keep a check on your blood sugar levels and blood pressure levels. These two factors are the major causes of kidney diseases.
  • Minimize your salt intake and substitute common salt with rock salt.
  • Try to be physically active but avoid strenuous workouts. Practice yoga and meditation.

Third: Focus on mental health

Only a few people know that mental health severely affects kidney health. Mental health, emotions, and stressful conditions worsen the condition of kidneys. Kidney treatment in Ayurveda explains that the kidneys battling diseases get as an add-on complication when the diseased starts taking stress for several reasons. So, try to relax and focus on enhancing mental health. Practice breathing exercises stated in Pranayam and meditate for at least 30 minutes a day chanting ‘OM NAMAH SHIVAY.’

So, this was an idler’s guide to the good health of kidneys as per the kidney treatment in Ayurveda. We may ignore the inner health, but when the inner body gets attacked by the diseases, we don’t waste a minute and rush towards the allopathic doctors. Do you know that the chemicals used in such medicines harm an individual’s health? Indeed it does, chemicals have a severe effect on the wellbeing of kidneys as they damage the nephrons and Glomeruli seriously.
